‘Showen Kumihimo’ is an atelier of the Silk Braid that continues for 60 years in Kyoto.
The braid starts 3000 years ago. It started in full scale at the Nara era(1300 years ago). It is used for the joint of the armor and the sword. And,it has been used for ritual article such as temples and Shinto shrine. There is 1000 kinds or more of hows to unite the string. We hope you enjoy the feeling of silk.
